Educational Services

Overview

Education is a high priority at the Dental Center of NW Ohio. We provide a wide variety of educational services to meet the needs of the community. Educational services are provided to schools, daycares, long-term facilities, health fairs, and United Way agency fairs.

Infant - Toddler Oral Care Education

The Dental Center teaches parents and caregivers proper dental care for newborns and toddlers and how to prevent Baby Bottle Tooth Decay. Good nutritional habits are discussed. The Dental Center educational staff provides this information by visiting daycares, teen pregnancy programs, parent groups and on a daily basis in our fixed site clinics.

Long-Term Care Facility Education

A licensed dental hygienist provides in-service training for nurses and nursing assistants. We meet with nurses to review how to perform an intra/extra oral exam upon admission, pathologies and abnormalities; how to note an overall oral condition; and teach proper oral hygiene. The nursing assistants are taught proper oral hygiene and how to care for patients with partials and dentures.

Education In Schools

We present educational programs for kids in kindergarten through grade 12. Proper oral hygiene and good nutritional habits are a high priority when discussed in the schools. School-aged children are drinking more pop and sugary drinks than ever before. We discuss how this relates to increased tooth decay.

The Dental Center of NW Ohio has an educational program called the Oral Health Knowledge College (OHKC). We would be happy to come educate your class, daycare, preschool, boy/girl scout group or after school programs.

Molly Molar is a large tooth character we use as an educational prop to motivate children to take better care of their teeth. Molly Molar goes to the several affairs, including: schools, daycares, health fairs, Safe-T-City, and United Way Agency Fairs. Molly Molar is an inspiration to our children, adults, and seniors, but most of all Molly Molar is a valuable asset to our educational programs!

If you are interested in an educational program for your facility, please contact our Education Coordinator, Connie Wojcik at (419) 725-2513 or connie@dentalcenternwo.org.
